Summer Movie

The summer time is a great time to be a movie lover! There are so many new releases and choices that it just boggles the mind.

In years past, the hype surrounding certain films has been unbearable. Think the last three Star Wars for instance or last years second Pirates of the Caribbean.

This summer has been a lot different!

So far this spring/summer I've seen 28 Weeks Later, Evan Almighty, Spider Man 3, Shriek 3, Fantastic 4 and tonight my new favorite: Ratatouille!!

What a great, funny and beautifully made film!!! I totally suggest seeing it!! That is if you enjoy laughing your ass off and viewing something absolutely brilliant.

Pixar has done it again and this new film shows them only getting better!

Motel Damon

This morning my apartment feels like a motel. That may be because I've decided to help two friends who need a place to lay they're hats for the next couple days.

Well, to be completely honest it's really only one that needs a place the other has a place but needs a friend to be close at hand while he detoxes.

OK, OK..The real truth is that they both have places but one needs a friend while the other needs my couch..Ouch: that sounds weird.

Alright, lets try this again..

I have two friends, both have an apartment leased under they're names, who are staying with me for the next couple days.

Friend One needs a place to chill while he kicks a bad habit while Friend Two is waiting for his apartment to be finished and readied for him to move into.

Now damn it..I'm rambling.

Time to go.

Peace Out!!

Easy and Chill

Not a lot to report this Monday morning. My weekend was easy and chill despite it being one of the busiest times of the year to be a Fog City resident.

Currently, I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee and watching the Today Show with a new friend. It's nice meeting someone new and interesting every once and a while. His name is Justin and he has the biggest and bluest eyes I think I've ever seen!

Soon I'll be mopping floors and cleaning up around my building..Pretending to be a Building Supervisor/Land Lord, I guess?!

Not much more to report so now I'm off to make breakfast for me and my new friend. Yummy!!

Hoping your day is Easy and Chill!

Peace Out!!!!

Wal-Mart shuns gay groups

By Marc Gunther, Fortune senior writer
June 22 2007: 11:52 AM EDT

NEW YORK (FORTUNE) -- Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, has decided to curb its support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) organizations after conservative Christian groups threatened a boycott, and after some of its own employees expressed disapproval.

The move comes a year after Wal-Mart (Charts, Fortune 500) had put on a gay-friendly smile. The company joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. It sponsored the annual convention of Out & Equal, a group that promotes gay rights in the workplace, and sold gay-themed jewelry in stores.

"We are not currently planning corporate-level contributions to GLBT groups," said Mona Williams, the company's senior vice president of corporate communications. Individual stores can still donate to gay groups.

By way of explanation, Ms. Williams cited a policy adopted last fall saying that Wal-Mart would not make corporate contributions "to support or oppose highly controversial issues" unless they directly relate to the company's ability to serve its customers.

How significant is the pullback? Williams says it does not signal any less support for its GLBT employees or for Wal-Mart Pride, a network of gay employees at the company. She's an executive sponsor of the group, which was sanctioned in 2005. "We certainly don't feel that it's a retrenchment," she said.
Wal-Mart slows U.S. expansion

Others can't help but see it that way. After Wal-Mart explained its decision to a meeting of about 50 Pride members, one contacted FORTUNE to express disappointment.

"I thought the company was moving in the right direction," this employee wrote in an email. "But last week changed everything. Pulling funding from GLBT organizations is a slap in the face to gay employees and it sends a very clear message. Diversity within Wal-Mart is only partially inclusive." "They're catering to their conservative base," the employee added, in a phone conversation.

Interestingly, gay-rights groups were more understanding. Selisse Berry, the executive director of Out & Equal, said: "Wal-Mart continues to engage on the issue of worker equality, and we will support them in that...This is a marathon, not a sprint, and so long as Wal-Mart keeps its doors open, we hope to give them encouragement." Wal-Mart had donated $60,000 to Out & Equal.

The Human Rights Campaign, America's largest gay-rights group, also says it will continue to work closely with Wal-Mart. "With a company as large as Wal-Mart, it's not going to happen as fast as many of us would like," says Daryl Herrschaft, who oversees the HRC's workplace project.

Wal-Mart supported the gay chamber, an organization of more than 24,000 gay- and lesbian-owned businesses, for the first time last year. (Other corporate backers include IBM, Wells Fargo, Motorola and American Express.) The chamber's president, Justin Nelson, did not return a call seeking comment.

Several sources told FORTUNE that Wal-Mart now intends to work harder to educate its own employees about GLBT issues - something it had been advised to do before aligning itself publicly with gay-rights groups.

Last year, when anti-gay groups picketed stores, store managers weren't prepared to explain the company's position. Leaders of Wal-Mart Pride say most of its members work in and around the company's Bentonville headquarters, so they have been unable to muster allies in the field.

On June 9, Wal-Mart Pride members made a presentation to more than 500 employees at one of the company's Saturday morning meetings, which are used to rally the company around business goals. "The presentation was warmly received," Williams said.

Still, some members of the group had hoped that Wal-Mart would by now have taken a major step towards workplace equality by offering health care benefits to the domestic partners of its GLBT employees. More than half of FORTUNE 500 companies do so.

The lesson here may be that it's hard to find a middle ground when it comes to gay rights in the workplace. A company either believes in workplace equality for all, and is willing to stand up and say so, or it doesn't.

It's pretty clear where Wal-Mart stands

Pride

On the cusp of the Gay Holiday knows here as Pride Weekend I find myself looking forward to this weekends festivities.

This is always a most interesting time of year here in Fog City.

Not only does it seem as if everyone comes out during the Parade but there are massive parties and events that happen through out the weekend.

We have many visitors and a ton of Celebrates visit as well as Local, State and Federal Politicians that also get in on the acts by showing up to events and the parade which happens on Sunday.

There are many times during the year that SF is a very, very fun City to live in and this is most definitly one of those times!!

Personally, I'm looking forward to this weekend and I'm wishing everyone a Happy Pride!

Late Night/Early Morning

I'm half awake because this isn't the time I should be awake yet. My brain doesn't function very well at present but here I am. Typing. Sigh.

I rather I was pounding on some..Opps..Which blog am I writing on? LoL.

The newscasters on TV are especially loud this morning.

Somehow my brain is waking up. Or maybe not.

I've a chest cold.

It's time for bed again.

Later.

Sisyphus: My Current State

In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was an evil king who was condemned to Hades to forever roll a big rock up a mountain. Each day he strained and struggled all day, pushing the heavy rock up the steep mountain until he finally made it to the top. Each night, as he slept, the rock rolled back down to the bottom of the mountain. Sisyphus's task never ended.
What follows is a post from a MySpace post I saw regarding the May 15 Gas Price Strike movement. Ignore any grammatical errors, they're not mine.

What comes at the end of the post is my thoughts on it, which could certainly do quite a bit to be far more effective and helpful to everyday people and their communities ...

The big "or" follows ...

Don't pump gas on may 15th

In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices.
Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all myspace members are asked to not go to a gas station in protest of
high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the myspace network, and the
average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up.

If all myspace members did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,200,000,000.00 (that's BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day,
so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the
Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) repost this bulletin repost it with
'Don't pump gas on May 15th

OR

What if rather than just not pump for a day, which really doesn't accomplish all that much, everyone who could started to take the bus or train to work more often? What if those who couldn't use public transportation tried car pooling with co-workers?

News: Fog City the Coolest Place on Earth

Good Morning World!

I love this part of Earth I call home.

There's so much natural beauty here that it's at times overwhelming. Anytime of the day or night and under any weather condition: San Francisco is the most marvelous place on Earth!

Not only is there an obvious, natural beauty to the village I've dubbed Fog City but let us not forget the man made sights and structures. From the way that some of these homes seemingly hang from the hills, to the amazing public art, well tended parks and the iconic skyline/architecture of our downtown districts ..San Francisco is a place where I'll always want to live.

And while most of the United States is sweltering and freaking out under the oppressive heat and humidity SF remains cool, calm and collected.

Thanks Pacific Ocean!!

I've lived at many points on this plant and I've traveled far and wide and this is my conclusion: There are only a handful municipalities that can compete with this area and you can keep them all!

My heart remains, breathes and thrives in San Francisco..This corner of the world I call home!

The Price of Friendship

I have noticed that a many of my fellow gay men here in Fog City don't understand or appricate the value of friendship or the close bonds of community.

From negative behaviours like stealing, lying, racism, drug use and selfish/immature outburst to down right harmful acts; Gay Men here and around the world don't know how to treat one another!

Some of the Hookup sites we all use are rife with the most dishonest, scary, harmful people you will ever come across.

Many of these guys look normal but they are most assuredly not. Many are homeless and float from place to place. From one bag of Tina to the next. Then take they're unhappiness out on you by stealing from your home, being dramatic and or disruptive.

I thought I was dealing with grown Men but many times it's child like behaviour that wins the day.

Maybe it's our society at whole that needs to change.. BUT OUR COMMUNITY IS NO LESS AFFLICTED by most of the negative traits our heterosexual counterparts portray.

We need to grow up guys and start acting like adults. Leave the childish life behind and get on your own two feet.

Instead of stealing and taking stuff that isn't yours!

Space Station

I'd love to visit our space station and throw a party.

All sorts of people would be invited. Everyone would get High tech because of all the smoke weed and floating in Zero Gravity while on 'shrooms at warP 10.

Me and (a much younger) Captain Kirk would get busy in the back while Mista Spock watches and films the whole thing.

Then I want to travel to the Battlstar Galactica and shoot Cylons and bet while playing Poker.

Luke Skywalker and I would be best friends and he would be DJ'ing while we traveled about on the Millineum Falcon.

Han Solo would give me a hand job. I'd have a Wookie for a pet.

ET would help get rid of my headache because I'd be so stoned from some acid Yoda had given me.

What a marvelous time would be had in my Space Station.

Know Your Name

Damon and Phythias

Initiates in the Pythagorean mysteries, contracted so faithful a friendship towards each other, that when Dionysius of Syracuse intended to execute one of them, and he had obtained permission from the tyrant to return home and arrange his affairs before his death, the other did not hesitate to give himself up as a pledge of his friend's return. [For the two men lived together, and had their possessions in common.] He whose neck had been in danger was now free; and he who might have lived in safety was now in danger of death. So everybody, and especially Dionysius, were wondering what would be the upshot of this novel and dubious affair. At last, then the day fixed was close at hand, and he had not returned, every one condemned the one who stood security, for his stupidity and rashness. But he insisted that he had nothing to fear in the matter of his friend's constancy. And indeed at the same moment and the hour fixed by Dionysius, he who had received leave, returned. The tyrant, admiring the courage of both, remitted the sentence which had so tried their loyalty, and asked them besides to receive him in the bonds of their friendship, saying that he would make his third place in their affection agreeable by his utmost goodwill and effort. Such indeed are the powers of friendship: to breed contempt of death, to overcome the sweet desire of life, to humanize cruelty, to turn hate into love, to compensate punishment by largess; to which powers almost as much veneration is due as to the cult of the immortal gods. For if with these rests the public safety, on those does private happiness depend; and as the temples are the sacred domiciles of these, so of those are the loyal hearts of men as it were the shrines consecrated by some holy spirit.

Trying

I find myself trying to write more these days.

For almost the last 24 hours I've had a house guest. Or apartment guest in my case.

Johnny is his name and watching the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings is his game. That's pretty much all we did although we started out trying to do so much more. But if you've seen one of the movies then imagine how long it takes to watch all 3. I say it takes almost 24 hours!

I'm a bit bored and worn out from all the adventures of the Hobbits, Elves, Dwarfs and Wizards that going any place today seems taxing.

I'll need the day to recover and I've really not left my home!

Just joking!!

The sun finally shines in Fog City making today a great day to run the hills and take new photos so I'm sure I'll get out doors at some point. Just going to wait until the sun sits a bit lower in the western sky.

So until I write again..Peace all!

Something

So I've not been in much of a writing mood recently but here I am trying to post something before the work week ends and passes me by.

Things have been calm and steady my way.

I've been making lots of music and other art. It feels great when my creative juices flow and I'm spitting out completed works of music, photographs, video and art.

My personal life has been interesting as I've been dating. I've gotten closer to one or two people and a lot less closer to most. Meeting guys and managing a dating life is weird and sometimes funny here in Fog City.

But I got to say that I'm happy these days.

The beginning of my summer has started off nicely!

I truly hope the trend continues!
